I am honored and humbled to have received the Dubai Harvard Foundation for Medical Research (DHFMR)’s Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Award. This prestigious award is given (as stated in the award description) to the Middle East and North Africa’s “brightest mind in the medical field”. In connection with, I have been asked to help develop a sustainable infrastructure for medical research and innovation in Dubai, UAE. I receive this honor with deep gratitude and great humility. It is an award that speaks to my highest aspirations, as this is the first time that a person from Iraq (or any part of Kurdistan) is awarded.
