Dr. Aram Ghalali is a distinguished College Instructor and Faculty Member at Harvard Medical School, where he has been imparting knowledge and contributing to the field of oncology since 2021. Prior to his current role, he served as a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard Medical School from 2017 to 2021, focusing on groundbreaking research that has furthered the understanding of both pediatric and general oncology. His tenure at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden from 2014 to 2017 as a postdoctoral researcher allowed him to delve into environmental toxicology, which complemented his expertise in chemistry and biotechnology. Dr. Ghalali’s career is marked by a dedication to advancing medical science and education, particularly in the realm of cancer biology.

Dr. Ghalali’s academic journey is both impressive and foundational to his professional achievements. He completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Oncology and Drug Design at Harvard Medical School in 2019. This was subsequent to his time as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Environmental Toxicology at Karolinska Institutet culminating in 2017. His Doctorate in Cellular Signaling Pathways and Regulation of Oncogenes was awarded by Karolinska Institutet in 2014.

Further showcasing his multifaceted expertise, Dr. Ghalali earned two Master’s degrees from Mälardalens University: one in Quality Assessment in Pharmaceuticals Sciences/Biotechnology and another in Cancer Prevention and Pharmacy Design both conferred in 2010. He also holds two Bachelor of Science degrees: one in Chemical Engineering and another in Biotechnology. Dr. Ghalali also holds a degree in Civil Engineering, focusing on Chemical Engineering.

Outside of his academic and professional pursuits, Dr. Ghalali has dedicated himself to research that hits close to home—working on childhood brain cancers at Harvard and conducting toxicological research as Assistant Professor at Karolinska Institutet that included identifying traces of chemical weapons affecting human health. This work is deeply personal due to the impact of chemical weapons on his Kurdish people during the war in Iraqi Kurdistan, which propelled him into the field of oncology research. Driven by a sense of responsibility and the desire to implement innovative ideas, he plans to continue making significant strides by dedicating his own laboratory for independent research.
